About the stream

Spring Branch winds through Timonium for about 2 miles before flowing into the Loch Raven Reservoir. This small but important stream helps filter and carry clean water into the reservoir, supports a variety of plants and wildlife, and plays a role in reducing neighborhood flooding by slowing and absorbing stormwater.

Why it matters

Healthy streams like Spring Branch protect local drinking water, provide habitat for birds, fish, and other wildlife, and help keep our community resilient during heavy rain. The surrounding forested areas and wetlands also improve air quality and create peaceful natural spaces for everyone to enjoy.

What we do

Our volunteers work year‑round to document, monitor, and restore Spring Branch. Our efforts include planting native vegetation, improving stream banks, cleaning up trash and litter, removing clogs, and spreading awareness.
